New Details: Child pulled from hotel pool in Yarmouth

YARMOUTHFrom Yarmouth Police: On Thursday, July 11, 2019 at 8:30 PM, Yarmouth Police and Firefighters were dispatched to the Yarmouth Resort on Route 28 regarding a child who had just been rescued from the indoor swimming pool.

The child was reported to be unconscious and not breathing, but CPR was in progress.

Upon arrival at the resort, Yarmouth Police Department Patrol Officer Christopher Marino was met at the front door by several employees who directed him towards the indoor pool area and Officer Marino confirmed that the that the child was now breathing.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the six year old girl and her family were visiting from France and no one in the family spoke English.

Through interpreters, we were able to determine that adults in the family were just outside the indoor pool cooking on a grill for approximately 10 minutes and left the girl with her older brother and his cousin in the indoor pool swimming.

The family reported they were all swimming in the shallow end and they looked over and the girl was under water.

The bother and cousin—ages 13 and 14—were able to get her out of the water and resort employee Domantas Kairaitis—age 19—started CPR.

Fortunately, within a short period of time the girl was revived and recovered.

The girl was transported to Cape Cod Hospital in good condition and was held overnight for observation.

The Yarmouth Police Department commends the quick and decisive actions of the teenagers and hotel employee Kairaitis for helping to save the life of child.
