Child dies from injuries sustained in crash in Falmouth



FALMOUTH – A child was seriously injured in a crash in Falmouth about 9 AM Thursday. The crash happened at the junction of Route 28 and Route 151 (Nathan Ellis Highway). A MedFlight helicopter was requested to land at Falmouth Hospital to fly the child to a trauma center. The cause of the crash is under investigation by Falmouth Police.

Falmouth Police report that on Thursday at approximately 9:00 AM, they responded to a two car crash on Route 151 at the onramp of Route 28 north with reported injuries. Officers discovered a sedan and a commercial truck were involved in the crash. A 4 year-old passenger would be transported by MedFlight to a Boston area hospital with serious injuries. FPD is investigating and was assisted on scene by the Massachusetts State Police Truck Team and the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office Bureau of Criminal Investigations.

Falmouth Fire-Rescue reports that when they responded, their personnel found a four door grey sedan with significant drivers side damage and a flatbed delivery truck.

Boston MedFlight was requested to transport a 4-year-old male with life threatening injuries. The 28-year-old female driver accompanied the minor child with MedFlight. The adult female had injuries that were not life-threatening. Both were transported to a Boston area hospital.

The driver of the flat bed truck refused medical treatment and transport. The crash remains under investigation by the Falmouth Police Department.
