Coast Guard rescues burned mariner, ailing sailor

WOODS HOLE – A boater was brought into the Coast Guard Station in Woods Hole Monday reportedly suffering from burns to the arms and face. A Coast Guard spokesperson tells CWN the man was on a commercial fishing vessel when the transmission apparently blew disabling the boat. The man was reportedly burned by transmission fluid. A 45 foot response vehicle responded to the scene and brought the victim to the station where Falmouth Fire Rescue transported the victim to Falmouth Hospital…

The Coast Guard  medevaced a sick woman from a sailboat Monday near Cuttyhunk Island.  At about 7 p.m., the woman’s husband called watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Southeastern New England reporting that his wife was suffering abdominal pains and needed assistance. A 45-foot boat crew from Station Woods Hole launched at about 7:20 p.m. They arrived at the 46-foot sailboat and transferred the woman aboard. The boat crew transported her back to Woods Hole where Falmouth Fire Rescue was standing by to take her to Falmouth Hospital. The woman is reported to be in stable condition.
