DENNIS – The Coast Guard is searching today near the mouth of the Bass River in West Dennis after an unmanned and unlabeled kayak was found late Sunday overturned in the Bass River, about 200 yards from shore. Inside the paddlecraft was an x-small black and pink jacket and a grocery bag with cigarettes and some food. The boat is a blue Gannet by Necky Kayak. (The red kayak in the photo belongs to the good Sam who found the blue kayak)
A helicopter crew from U.S. Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod and the Dennis Harbormaster are searching the waters for the kayak’s owner.
Anyone with information about the kayak or its owner is urged to call Coast Guard Sector Southeastern New England’s command center at 508-457-3211.
