CHATHAM -The Coast Guard is asking for help identifying the owner of this 30-foot sailing vessel with no name or registration. The vessel was beached yesterday on Monomoy Island, Chatham, Massachusetts.
Anyone with information on the vessel or owner is asked to contact the the Coast Guard at 508-457-3211.
Updated: It now appears the owner abandoned ship after it began taking on water and returned to his home in Wisconsin apparently assuming the vessel sank and never reported the incident. It was not clear if officials may order him to pay for the search expenses.
