Coffee with a Cop sessions in many towns on Wednesday

Charles D. Baker, Governor of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts signed a proclamation that designates Wednesday, October 4, 2017 to be “Coffee with a Cop Day.”

The Cape & Island Police Chiefs Associations (CIPCA) announces that member departments of the Cape and Islands Police Chief Association will be participating. Coffee with a Cop is a national movement designed to help break down the barriers in communities between residents and officers that can make it hard to address crime and public safety. It is a simple plan: Officers invite their residents to join them for a cup of coffee and a conversation. Today, more than 2,000 law enforcement agencies throughout the United States participate in this movement. Police Chiefs from across the Cape and Nantucket remain strongly committed to the advancement of community policing principles and engagement which has proven to be a significant tool in advancing informal communications between Police and the residents they serve.
