Construction to close Adams Street in Sagamore as part of new traffic plan

adamsstmapBOURNE – Adams Street. a popular shortcut for people taking Exit 1C off Route 6 to run the Cape side of the Canal, will be closed to all traffic from Sandwich Road to Cranberry Highway on Thursday, October 22, 2015, for paving. The construction will begin around 7 a.m. and continue most of the day. During the road closure, traffic will be detoured to Ben Abbey Road. Commonwealth Avenue and Canal View Apartments will not have access to Adams Street during the road work.

This road work is in preparation for the conversion of Adams Street to a one-way road. The conversion will take place on Friday, October 30, 2015, when the road will close again around 7 a.m. for line painting. When the road reopens later that day, only southbound traffic will be allowed on the road (Sandwich Road to Cranberry Highway). All northbound traffic (those vehicles traveling from Cranberry Highway to Sandwich Road) will need to take Ben Abbey Road (a two-way road with a traffic light at the intersection with Sandwich Road). The conversion is necessary in order to improve traffic safety in the area.

If traveling in the area after the one-way, please do not rely on your GPS to provide you accurate directions. Although we have contacted all major mapping providers, your mapping software may not be updated with new traffic plan.
