Wellfleet Fire/CWN

WELLFLEET – Wellfleet Fire reports that on Thursday at approximately 8:05 AM, they were dispatched to a report of a construction accident, with a man trapped under a steel I-beam on Josem’s Way. The department responded with a paramedic ambulance and command car.

Upon arrival, rescue personnel found a 46-year-old male (construction worker) who was assisting with the transfer of several I-beams from a flat bed trailer. For reasons unknown at this time, the victim was accidentally struck by an I-beam and wedged for a short period of time. The victim was conscious and alert upon arrival. Due to the nature of injuries (possibility of significant internal injury), Boston MedFlight was requested to respond.

The patient was transported to Barnstable Municipal Airport in Hyannis where he was transferred to the helicopter and flown to Massachusetts General Hospital.
