Cotuit man indicted on murder charges in death of his wife

BARNSTABLE – A Barnstable County Grand Jury returned indictments Friday against Christopher Fratantonio, 36, of Cotuit in connection with the death of his wife last month.

They included first degree murder and assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon charges in the alleged stabbing death of his 35-year-old wife, Mary Fratantonio.

The charges stem from an incident on February 28 when Barnstable Police received several 911 calls regarding a violent crime that had taken place at 89 Trout Brook Road in Cotuit.

When police arrived they observed Christopher Fratantonio at the house where he was arrested for the murder of his wife.

The preliminary investigation revealed the cause of death as multiple sharp force trauma.

Fratantonio is being held without bail at the Barnstable County Correctional Facility and will be arraigned in Barnstable Superior Court at a future date.

The matter remains under investigation by Barnstable Police and State Police Detectives assigned to the District Attorney’s Office.

Fratantonio previously pleaded not guilty to charges of murder and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon in Barnstable District Court.

During an appearance on Monday, a probable cause hearing was scheduled for April 27.
