Crash closes Route 28 in Yarmouth

SOUTH YARMOUTH – A two-vehicle crash in front of Silver Cloud Towing just before 12:30 p.m. temporarily closed Route 28 between Forest Road and Winslow Gray Road. A Ford Econoline van collided with a Mercury Grand Marquis. There were a dozen people in the van. Nine people in all were transported to Cape Cod Hospital including the Mercury driver whose injuries were described as serious. Because of the large number of patients, a Mass Casualty Incident (MCI) was declared which brought in additional ambulances from Dennis. The crash is under investigation by Yarmouth Police. The van driver will reportedly be summoned for operating negligently to endanger, improper left turn and operating without a license.
