Updated: Crash leaves vehicle on roof in Wellfleet


WELLFLEET
– A two-vehicle crash left one car on its roof in Wellfleet around 4 PM Tuesday. The crash happened on Route 6 by Old Wharf Road. Firefighters helped the driver of the overturned car from the vehicle. Ambulances from Eastham and Orleans were called to the scene but no serious injuries were reported. Traffic was backed up both directions from the crash. Wellfleet Police are investigating the crash.

Statement from Wellfleet Police: On Tuesday September 3, 2019 at approximately 3:55 PM, the Wellfleet Police received numerous 911 calls for a motor vehicle crash involving two vehicles on Route 6 near Old Wharf Road. Upon the officer’s arrival, they assisted the sole occupant of the overturned vehicle who was trapped in her vehicle. Members of the Wellfleet Fire department were able to extricate a 64-year-old female that was transported to Cape Cod Hospital with injuries that were not-life-threatening.

Operator of the other vehicle and passenger were evaluated at the scene by the Wellfleet Fire department.

Route 6 was reduced to one lane for approximately one hour, while the scene was cleared.

Vehicle 1: 2008 Red Toyota Prius, operated by Theodora McDowel, 64, of Florence, MA.

Vehicle 2: 2005 Grey Honda Civic, operated by Suzanne Nicholson, 46, of Wellfleet, MA.

This crash is currently being investigated by the Wellfleet Police Department.
