MASHPEE – One person was seriously injured in a rollover crash in Mashpee Friday morning. The crash happened about 7 AM on Main Street (Route 130) just south of Artisan Way near the Sandwich town line. Firefighters had to extricate the driver from the wreckage. MedFlight was not available due to weather so the victim was rushed by ambulance to South Shore Hospital trauma center in Weymouth. Mashpee Police reported the road would be closed for a couple of hours for crash reconstruction and investigation.

Mashpee Police Chief Scott Carline tells Cape Wide News that on Friday at approximately 6:57 AM, the department received a report of a single vehicle motor vehicle crash on Route 130 in the area of the Sandwich town line involving entrapment. Upon arrival responding officers observed a heavily damaged Gray Audi in the northbound lane after it had rolled over and landed back in an upright position. The Mashpee Fire Rescue Department was able to remove the sole female occupant victim from the vehicle. She was subsequently transported to South Shore Hospital in Weymouth with what appeared to be serious injuries. The vehicle was traveling southbound on Route 130 when the driver lost control of the vehicle causing the rollover. The victim in this case was a 25-year-old Harwich resident.

The crash is currently under investigation by the Mashpee Police Department, Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office and Cape Cod Regional Law Enforcement Council Crash Reconstruction Unit. Route 130 was closed for approximately two and a half hours hours as a result of the crash and subsequent investigation.

This is an active and ongoing investigation.
