Crews respond to another large brush fire in Sandwich

– Fire crews battled another large brush fire in Sandwich. The call came in for the area off Route 130 near the Coca Cola plant just before noon. Some 12 acres were scorched as the fire went to three alarms.

Firefighters experienced difficulty in accessing the fire in a remote heavily wooded area. One of the breakers became stuck and had to be pulled out. No injuries were reported and no structures were damaged.

Smoke from the fire drifted across Route 6 between exits 2 and 3 further slowing already heavy traffic exiting the Cape after the beautiful weekend. The smoke was also visible from Provincetown where a call came in about the smoke over the water.

The fire was in the same area as Saturday afternoon The cause of both fires is under investigation.
