CWN coverage of the major nor’easter part 3 – 100,000 in dark

CAPE COD – A major nor’easter is affecting the region and will continue into Saturday. Hurricane force wind gusts and major coastal flooding are predicted. Watch this area for continuing coverage of the storm. If you can safely take photos or video please send them to us but remember SAFETY FIRST.

10:30 PM update: Statement from Bourne Police “The rain is now mixing with snow in Bourne and the wind is kicking up… Just in time for the second high tide… Already hazardous road conditions could become significantly more difficult. Heed our warnings and stay home please.” Below-Dennis Firefighters video of arcing wires in their down:

10:00 PM update: Power outage tally just topped 100,000! Major outages in every town on the Cape. This is the darkest we have ever seen the Eversource map:

9:30 PM update: Wareham DNR just posted the following for Wareham Police “Wareham Police are looking for a silver car that struck and severely injured one of our firefighters in the vicinity of Jefferson shores in Onset. PLEASE! If anyone has any information to locate this vehicle that left the scene contact WPD at 508-295-1212. -Possibly went into Bourne-” We’ll bring you further details as we get them.

Power outages still climbing now at 88,000.

8:30 PM update: 93 MPH wind gust in Barnstable, 91 in Wellfleet! Power outages nearing 80,000 with 20,000 of those in Barnstable


8:00 PM update
: Widepread power outages with nearly 72,000 in dark.

7:00 PM update: An update on the fishing boat that broke loose in Provincetown. It is now high and dry on the West End Breakwater but is unfortunately likely to suffer extensive damage as the tide comes in and could possibly get carried over the rocks into the marsh!

Power outages are rapidly increasing with over 40,000 in the dark on the Cape. 12,000 of those are in Falmouth 6,200 in Barnstable!

6:30 PM update: Wind gust to 88 MPH in Woods Hole and 89 on Nantucket. Power outages have become extensive with 26,000 in dark 7,800 of those in Barnstable, 5,500 in Falmouth. Numerous reports of down trees continue to come in and the tide is coming back in now.
