CWN coverage of the major nor’easter part 5-some shelters open, serious crash in Harwich

CAPE COD – A major nor’easter is still affecting the region Saturday. The worse of the storm has peaked but there is still concern for additional coastal flooding with the early afternoon high tide. Widespread power outages have occurred and restoration efforts will take time. Strong gusty winds are slowing the power restoration. Watch this area for continuing coverage of the storm. If you can safely take photos or video please send them to us but remember SAFETY FIRST.

1:30 PM update: Orleans Police posted this account of a very close call. Police say while this motorist was out traveling last evening his car was struck by a falling tree… thankfully he did not have a passenger.

Police say as a reminder, unless it’s absolutely necessary please stay off the road ways. You may think it won’t happen to you but I’ll guarantee he didn’t think it was going to happen to him.
