CWN coverage of the major nor’easter part 6-Nauset Beach erosion, Dennis damage, Herring Cove damage

CAPE COD – A major nor’easter is still affecting the region Saturday. The worse of the storm has peaked but there is still concern for additional coastal flooding with the early afternoon high tide. Widespread power outages have occurred and restoration efforts will take time. Strong gusty winds are slowing the power restoration. Watch this area for continuing coverage of the storm. If you can safely take photos or video please send them to us but remember SAFETY FIRST.

11:00 PM update: Power outages just under 60,000. If you’re in the dark we’ll tell you the Bruins won over the Canadians in OT 2-1 while the Celts lost a heartbreaker 123-120 to the Rockets. We’ll continue to monitor the power restoration efforts.

7:00 PM update: Cape Cod National Seashore with this photo of storm damage at Herring Cove in Provincetown. There is  not much left of the North Lot:

6:00 PM update: New details on the firefighter struck in Onset during the storm. Onset Fire is requesting all be on the lookout for a gray colored, newer model Subaru Hatchback. The car likely has extensive side mirror and front and passenger side damage. Police noted the car was headed east on Cranberry Highway toward Bourne immediately after striking the firefighter. Anyone with information should call Wareham Police at 508-295-1212 or the department’s detective division at 508-295-1206. 4:00 PM update: Bourne Fire reported 40 calls for service Friday between 5 PM and midnight. Three houses were struck by trees and one car had a branch come down on it with minor injury to driver.
