BRANDON, FL – The tragic line-of-duty death of a Hillsborough County, FL sheriff”s deputy is being felt personally by law enforcement here on Cape Cod. According to reports, Deputy John Robert Kotfila Jr., 30, was killed when his cruiser was struck by a vehicle traveling the wrong way on the Lee Roy Selmon Expressway in Brandon, FL early Saturday. The driver of the other car, Erik Thomas Mcbeth, 31, was also killed. Cape Wide News has learned Deputy Kotfila’s father is Mass State Police Sgt. John Robert “Cliffy” Kotfila who works out of the Bourne Barracks. Deputy Kotfila’s brother is Falmouth Police Officer Michael Kotfila. Our thoughts are with the Kotfila family and all our brother officers at this most difficult time.
