Deer Hunting Season Starts Tomorrow in Yarmouth

The Massachusetts two week shotgun deer hunting season starts tomorrow . Hunting is allowed in Yarmouth provided hunters are more than 500 feet from a building. Hunters are required to wear ” hunter orange” hats and jackets. There is no Sunday hunting allowed.

If you choose to walk in wooded areas it is advised that you wear highly visible garments. Your dogs should also have something highly visible on them.

The deer population in Yarmouth is strong as they have adapted to living in close quarters with humans. Each year the Yarmouth Police cover approximately 15 deer vs. vehicle crashes. Hunting is a proven method of controlling deer populations.
