Delays expected in Brewster as paving continues

BREWSTER – As the Rte. 6A paving project in Brewster enters its final phase, motorists can expect delays and detours over the course of the next week.

Paving will begin today and will continue daily through mid-week next week, excluding the weekend. Construction crews will be in the road each day from 6:30 am to 5:00 pm.

Day 1 & 2, paving will be between the Orleans line and Millstone Road. One lane will remain closed and traffic will be allowed through, alternating one direction at a time. Delays will be substantial.

Day 3 & 4, paving will be between Millstone Road and Underpass Road. Only Westbound traffic will be allowed through. Eastbound traffic will be detoured up Underpass Road, and around to Millstone Road.

Day 5 & 6, paving will between Underpass Road and Route 137. Again, only westbound traffic will be allowed through. Eastbound traffic will be detoured up Route 137 and around to Underpass Road.

Motorists are encouraged to allow plenty of extra time and/or seek an alternative route whenever possible. Officers will be on hand to assist people while navigating the detours.
