WEST DENNIS – A kiteboarder lost his board Friday off West Dennis Beach around 5 p.m.

Concerned onlookers called 911 because of his distance from shore, which was estimated at 300 to 400 yards.

According to all reports the kiteboarder was making his way to shore towing his kite and not in distress.

After the 911 calls, Dennis police officers and a Dennis Fire Rescue ambulance deployed to the beach and a crew launched Rescue Boat 118 from Bass River.

Upon arrival on scene, the crew of 118 confirmed that the kiteboarder was not in distress and the crew reported he declined assistance. Nevertheless, it was the duty of the Dennis Fire Department to assist the kiteboarder to shore. A Dennis harbormaster boat was also on scene.

The kiteboarder made it safely to shore. In the photo below he can be seen carrying his kite along the beach.
