Dennis Harbor and Fire Department respond to boat in trouble

EAST DENNIS
– One person was rescued when his motor quit on Cape Cod Bay. The Dennis Assistant Harbormaster Bill McKenzie along with Dennis Firefighter’s Wayne Mayo and Shane Sargent responded when a call was received at 1:32 PM from the Coast Guard Southeast Sector Woods Hole.

The vessel the “Shuck’n Around” piloted by Captain Michael Kubiak became disabled when ice was sucked into the impellers. Due to the shallow tides a smaller rescue vessel was needed to reach the disabled clamming boat. The Dennis Harbor boat was able to get a line to the disabled vessel and towed them to safely back to Sesuit Harbor. Fire department personnel were on hand to evaluate any hypothermia in this frigid weather.
