Dennis man facing drunken driving charges following Yarmouth Port crash

YARMOUTH – A Dennis man is facing underage drinking and driving charges following a crash in Yarmouth Port Saturday morning at 11 a.m. in the area of Stratford Lane.

Patrol Officer Cruz and Patrol Officer Matthew Mangano conducted an investigation that determined several youths had been drinking alcoholic beverages at a home in the neighborhood the night before.

Apparently at least one of them, Nicholas David Harrington, 20, was still intoxicated and crashed a vehicle into a tree at the corner of Oxford Road and Stratford Lane.

Police said Harrington appeared disheveled, leaves were stuck to his white long sleeve shirt and pants, a he had a large cut on his right hand, and dried blood on his shirt.

Harrington was determined to be the operator of a Volkswagen Passat at the time of the crash.  He was placed under arrest and transported to Yarmouth Police Department Headquarters and is scheduled for arraignment Monday in the Barnstable District Court.
