Dennis Police Department completes 14th Citizens Police Academy

– The Dennis Police Department is proud to announce the recent graduation of the 14th Citizens Police Academy Class. The class was 10 weeks long and met every Monday night in the Dennis Police community room from 6:30pm to 10:00pm. Topics included community policing/crime prevention, the court system/law, OUI enforcement and patrol force functions, investigations, traffic safety, animal control, defensive tactics, harbormaster functions, scams/frauds, domestic violence, K9 program, natural resources, officer family life, communications, school resource officer, firearms, and SWAT.

The 29 participants also spent a morning at the firearms range. For many this was their first time shooting and all had a great experience! The participants will also be completing a ‘ride-along’ with officers throughout the months of May and June.

The Dennis Police Department would like to thank the participants for a great 10 weeks.
