Dennis Police Department Completes 16th Citizens Police Academy

DENNIS – The Dennis Police Department is proud to announce the recent graduation of the 16th Citizens Police Academy Class. The class was 11 weeks long and met every Monday night in the Dennis Police community room from 6:00pm to 9:00pm. Topics included Community Policing; Patrol Functions; Investigative Functions; Law; Use of Force and Defensive Tactics; Communications; Specialized Units; and other topics related to policing.  Classes were taught by officers, civilian staff and outside agencies that specialize in a particular field of instruction.

The 24 participants also spent a morning at the firearms range. For many this was their first time shooting and all had a great experience! The participants will also be completing a ‘ride-along’ with officers throughout the months of May and June.

The Dennis Police Department would like to thank the participants for a great 11 weeks.
