Dennis Police issue advisory about email scam; schedule community forum

DENNIS – Dennis Police have issued an advisory to residents about an email scam that has surfaced in recent weeks.

Authorities said the communication appears to becoming from Chase Bank, but it’s not.

The picture above shows the email received. In fact, if you click on the email’s “chase.com” link, it brings you to a page with the web address line “elgeneralissimo.mx,” presumably from Mexico.

Anyone who gets a similar email should immediately delete it.

As a result of this scam, and others, the police department’s Community Services Unit will hold class next month on how to protect yourself. Seniors are especially encouraged to attend as they are targeted most often.

The class will take place on March 15th from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Dennis Council on Aging.
