Dennis Police Officer receives award for work in the area of mental health response


DENNIS
– On June 27, 2018 at the 8th Annual Mental Health and Law Enforcement Conference, Sergeant Kenneth Gelnett was recognized for his work in assisting individuals with mental health issues, trauma, or other behavioral health issues. At the conference each year one clinician and one police officer receive an award for their efforts towards helping those in a crisis and are selected for their overall achievements and their demonstrated commitment to their work with individuals with mental illness and other behavioral health difficulties.

Sergeant Gelnett accepted the award on behalf of the Community Crisis Intervention Team (CCIT) which is the Department’s collaborative approach to address mental health issues in Dennis.
