Dennis Police sergeant retires after 31 years


DENNISFrom Dennis Police: Friday, June 21, 2019, marked the final shift for Dennis Police Sergeant Richard Troy as he completed a distinguished and honorable 31 year career with the department.

Sergeant Troy held several specialty positions within the department to include Detective, Motorcycle Officer, Traffic Safety Officer, Field Training Officer and Drug Recognition Expert, for which he became recognized as an authority in the field.

Sergeant Troy was also the recipient of numerous department awards to include the Lifesaving, Exceptional Police Duty and Exceptional Investigative medals and just as importantly, Sergeant Troy received numerous letters of thanks and appreciation from citizens he had assisted during his career.

In his own words on his final day as a full time Dennis Police Officer, Sergeant Troy lauded the fellow members of the Dennis PD telling them that it had been an honor and a pleasure to serve alongside everyone at the DPD.

All of the members of the Dennis Police Department wish Sergeant Richard Troy a long, happy and healthy retirement, and hope that he may lower his golf handicap…Thank you for your service to the Town of Dennis Rich.
