Dennis Port home heavily damaged in morning fire

DENNIS – A Dennis Port home was heavily damaged by fire early Saturday morning.

Dennis firefighters responded to reports of an appliance fire just after 7 a.m. at 51 Stafford Circle.

Upon arrival, units had fire blowing out the front of a single story ranch style dwelling. An aggressive fire attack was made by the firefighters who were assisted by the Harwich Fire Department.

The house was occupied at the time and one homeowner was taken to Cape Cod Hospital for an evaluation of non-life threating injuries The structure suffered substantial fire damage to a breezeway and garage area. The house is owned by Noreen Burt with an assessed value is $384,600.

Brewster fire department supplied a covering engine while the fire was going on.

One firefighter was sustained a minor injury when he slipped on some ice.
