SOUTH DENNIS – Around 12:10 p.m. a young woman driving a Chevy Tahoe SUV east on Great Western Road lost control of the vehicle and it slammed into a utility pole on the south side of the road. The driver, traveling alone, was checked out by Dennis medics but refused treatment. She reported that her brakes had failed prior to the crash.

The impact  cracked the pole and triggered three breakers. However, the Eversource outage map reported no loss of power in the area. Eversource was called to the scene to take care of the pole. Dennis Police reportedly cited the driver for operating with a suspended license.

Then, around 1:45 p.m. a child on a bicycle was reportedly struck by a car on Great Western Road by South Gages Way where the bike path crosses the road.
