Names of 2 missing fishermen released; Coast Guard search continues off Nantucket

NANTUCKET
– The search continues for two fishermen who went missing after their fishing boat sank off Nantucket Monday night.

They’ve been identified as Michael Roberts, 44, and Jonatha Saraiva, 32, by the boat’s owner, Atlantic Cape Fisheries.

The Coast Guard said the crew of the 69-foot Misty Blue issued a distress call around 6 p.m. Two other crewmembers were rescued by a nearby fishing boat.

According to Robert’s wife, Tammy, he didn’t know how to swim.

The cause of the sinking is under investigation. The boat is based in New Bedford.

Coast Guard and local agencies that were involved in the search yesterday included:

-An MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter from Air Station Cape Cod
-An HC-144 Ocean Sentry fixed wing aircraft from Air Station Cape Cod
-A 47-foot Motor Lifeboat from Coast Guard Station Brant Point
-Coast Guard Cutter Steelhead, an 87-foot patrol boat
-Coast Guard Cutter Tybee, a 110-foot patrol boat
-Barnstable County Sheriff
-Fishing vessel Enterprise
-Fishing vessel Mariette
