MASHPEE – Firefighters were called to the Franey Medical Labs on Mercantile Way around 9:30 a.m. A chemical burning odor was reported and crews detected elevated carbon monoxide levels and decreased oxygen levels. Everyone evacuated the building safely. One person was taken top Falmouth Hospital for evaluation. A request for a state hazardous materials team to respond to the scene was made. The situation was declared under control about 12:15 p.m. It was still not clear what caused the odor.
