Large diesel fuel spill reported in Hyannis Harbor

HYANNIS
– Fire officials are investigating a reported large diesel spill in Hyannis Harbor off Ocean Street. Hyannis officials called for mutual aid from Yarmouth and Centerville for booms to contain the  spill. The Coast Guard and state agencies were also responding.

According to reprots, the Fuel spilled from the Hy-Line vessel Lady Martha that was moored near Spanky’s Clam shack in Hyannis Harbor. An undetermined amount of fuel was released into the harbor. Booms were placed around the boat. It was determined that most of the
fuel went out in the harbor by the movement of other boats and the tide. No other booms were deployed. The Coast Guard is investigating and a cleanup crew was also called.
