HARWICH – Harwich Fire reports that while responding to a cardiac arrest in West Harwich, the station 2 ambulance struck a vehicle at Chatham Road and Route 39 Thursday afternoon. Fire officials say the ambulance had all of its warning lights on and the siren was operating at the time of the crash. No one was injured in either vehicle.

The ambulance struck a telephone pole after impact with the vehicle. The pole was broken due to the impact and power was briefly lost in the area.

Route 39 will be closed for an undetermined period of time while the pole is replaced by Verizon and Eversource.

The crash is being investigated by the Harwich Police and the Cape Cod Regional Law Enforcement Council Crash Reconstruction Team.
