UPDATED: Suspect in Hyannis armed robbery may be suspect in Truro Burglary

TRURO
– Truro Police report that on Thursday at 5:44 PM, officers responded to a residence on South Pamet Road for a reported breaking and entering.

Upon arrival, officers met with the reporting parties who were waiting outside the residence for the police arrival. The parties reported that the home had been vacant for some time.

The reporting parties advised investigating officers that they came to the residence to check on the fuse box located in the basement. They unlocked the front door, entered the residence and went directly to the basement to check the fuse box.

They reported that while in the basement they heard two suspects running across the floor in a room overhead. They then heard a secondary entrance/exit door open, and reported hearing the suspects run from the residence into the woods.

The reporting parties advised the investigating officers that they exited the basement and went back upstairs to the first floor of the residence. They located two open bottles of Coke that were cold to the touch, empty nip bottles and an ashtray full of cigarette butts on a coffee table in the living room. Several rooms had been ransacked and there was evidence that the residence had been forcibly broken into.

The reporting parties further advised the investigating officers that they were delayed in calling the Truro Police to report the incident because they had misplaced their cellphone and had trouble locating it.

Through investigation, officer have reason to believe that one of the fleeing suspects might be Zachary Enos who has ties to Truro. There is an active warrant for Enos for armed robbery, injury to property and intimidation of a witness stemming from an armed robbery at the Cape Crossroads condos in Hyannis on April 22nd.

Based on the above information, Truro officers established a perimeter and requested mutual aid from the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office K-9 unit and Bureau of Criminal Investigation, Barnstable Police and the Mass State Police. An extensive search of the residence and the surrounding area was conducted.

A K-9 track was initiated from the residence to the surrounding woods. Due to the time delay from when the suspects fled the residence to when the incident was reported to police, the suspects could not be located. A drone was also utilized during the search.

The incident remains under investigation by the Truro Police Department

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Zachary Enos should immediately contact Barnstable Police at 508-775-0387 or Truro Police at 508-487-8730.
