DENNIS – Power lines came down on Route 134 in Dennis between Upper County Road and Theophilis Smith Road sometime after 3:30 p.m. Route 134 is closed in the area as the wires burned on the side of the road. 8,400 Eversource customers lost power as a result on the downed wires Mostly in Dennis but parts of Yarmouth and Harwich were affected also. Officials believe a transformer blew causing the wires to come down. It was not immediately clear if high demand because of the heat was to blame. The traffic lights at Route 134 and Route 28 were also knocked out (below). Eversource crews are on scene working on the problem but there was no estimated time of restoration.
