UPDATED: Driver seriously injured after car rolls over in Wellfleet crash


WELLFLEET
– Wellfleet Police report that on Monday at approximately 4:41 PM, officers responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident on Route 6 at Briar Road near the Outer Cape Health Clinic.  Upon arrival, officers observed three vehicles, a 2011 Saab operated by Brian Briody of South Wellfleet, a 2012 Honda operated by Richelle Nelson of North Lauderdale, FL and a 2004 Honda operated by Mary Beth Caragian of Hudson, MA, involved in the accident. The Wellfleet, Eastham and Truro Fire departments, along with Lower Cape Ambulance Association, arrived on location and began treating victims.  All victims were transported to Cape Cod Hospital.  Route 6 remained closed, in both directions, between School Street and Briar Lane for approximately three hours while traffic was detoured around the accident scene.

The accident continues to be under investigation by the Wellfleet Police Department and members of the Cape Cod Regional Law Enforcement Crash Reconstruction team.  The Barnstable County Sheriff’s Department, the Provincetown Police Department and Mass Highway Department also assisted at the scene.

Traffic was also jammed for a time on Route 6 in Harwich after a series of crashes eastbound about 5 PM. One person was taken to the hospital for evaluation.
