BOURNE – At approximately 5:45 PM, the Bourne Police Department received multiple 9-1-1 calls reporting an erratic white van traveling westbound on the Scenic Highway in Bourne. The vehicle was reported to be swerving and leaving its lane. The van had struck a utility pole and continued driving. Another 9-1-1 caller reported the vehicle had run off the road, hit an embankment and rolled over. First officers on scene reported entrapment. Bourne Fire & Rescue arrived and removed the operator who was transported to an area hospital with injjuries that were not life-threatening. A subsequent investigation revealed the 46-year-old male operator from Fall River was suffering from a medical emergency. Scenic Highway was down to two lanes alternating directions while the scene was worked.
