UPDATED: Harwich woman trapped after Dennis Port crash

DENNIS PORT – From Dennis Police: On Friday, June 14, 2019 at 12:18 AM, the Dennis Police Department received a 911 call reporting a motor vehicle crash on Upper County Road, in the area of the Swan River Bridge, Dennis Port. On arrival officers found that a vehicle had left the roadway and struck a guardrail and tree.

The crash investigation determined that a 2018 Chevrolet Equinox, being operated by a 78-year-old woman who is a resident of Harwich, was traveling east on Upper County Road. The vehicle left the south side of the roadway and struck a guardrail and then a tree in the area of the bridge which crosses the Swan River. The operator, who was the only occupant of the vehicle, could not initially be removed as the vehicle was wedged against the guardrail. Personnel from the Dennis Fire Department were able to free the driver from the vehicle at which time she was transported to Cape Cod Hospital with what appeared to be minor injuries.

The crash is being investigated by Dennis Patrol Officer Alex Elias. No charges or citations have issued at this time.
