Drunk drivers keep officers busy in Dennis

SOUTH DENNIS – The Dennis Police Department reported that it was kept busy with drunk drivers on Saturday night into the early morning hours of Sunday. Officers arrested 5 people for Operating Under the Influence of Alcohol as well as several other charges.

At 10:30 p.m. Officer John Peters arrested David Wiseman, 26, from Centerville, for Operating Under the Influence of Liquor, Marked Lanes Violation as well as Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle. Just before 1 a.m. Officer Kevin Conboy attempted to stop a vehicle for speeding on School Street in West Dennis. He was eventually able to stop the vehicle in a parking lot on Route 28 and arrested James Lagergren, 32, also of Centerville. Lagergren was charged with Operating Under the Influence of Liquor, Speeding, Failure to Stop at Stop Sign and Reckless Operation of a Motor Vehicle.

Shortly thereafter Officer Michael Nee stopped a vehicle driven by Dylan Lanzillotti, 37, from Brighton, MA. Officer Nee reported seeing Lanzillotti change seats with the previous driver, Michael Moran, age 44 also of Brighton. Both men were charged with Operating Under the Influence of Alcohol. Finally at 1:22 a.m. Officer Brian Hemler was dispatched to the area of Lower County Road and River Lane in West Dennis for a report of a motor vehicle on the side of the road with a flat tire. There, Officer Hemler found Julianne Sullivan, 29, of Middleborough, MA. It was later determined that Sullivan had actually struck a utility pole in the area. She was subsequently arrested for Operating Under the Influence of Liquor-2nd Offense, Marked Lanes Violation and Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle.

All of the arrested were later booked and bailed from Dennis PD and are scheduled for arraignment on Monday June 1 in Orleans District Court. According to Dennis Police Sergeant Richard Troy, “This activity highlights the ongoing problem with intoxicated drivers and also demonstrates the determination and efforts put forth by all police officers in trying to keep the roads safe throughout the year.”
