HYANNIS – Barnstable Police report that at 2:25 AM on Sunday, they were called to a group home at 22 Main Street in Hyannis after a male subject entered the residence and assaulted an occupant. Arriving officers spoke with a 52-year-old female victim, who stated she was sleeping in her 3rd floor bedroom when a male entered the room and covered her nose and mouth with his hand. The victim screamed, causing the male to flee the bedroom, down the stairs to a 1st floor section of the home which had no exit. Officers searched the residence and located 29-year-old Cristian Lema of Yarmouth, hiding in a bath tub. Lema was placed under arrest and transported to the Barnstable Police Department where he was booked for Armed Burglary – Assault on an Occupant, and Strangulation or Suffocation. He was later bailed on $500 cash and is due to appear in Barnstable District Court on Monday.
