EASTHAM
– Over the past two weeks, members of the Eastham Fire Department, in coordination with the Cape Cod National Seashore Park Rangers, commenced training on the department’s newly acquired All-Terrain-Vehicle (ATV) for emergencies in remote areas in and around Eastham.

The ATV, equipped with a slide-in patient transport/firefighting module, was purchased as part of a grant from the Leary Firefighters Foundation. The vehicle, a 6×6 Polaris side-by-side utility vehicle, is equipped with emergency and scene lighting, firefighting and medical equipment.

“This vehicle will greatly help our response to the beaches of Eastham as well as other remote areas in our community where traditional vehicles would have access difficulties,” said Eastham Chief Kent Farrenkopf.

Following the training, the vehicle was placed in service and available for emergency response for Eastham as well as assisting surrounding communities as needed.
