Eastham Police Deputy Chief retires, promotion ceremony held

EASTHAM – Monday was Deputy Chief Kenneth Roderick’s last day at the Eastham Police Department. Deputy Chief Roderick is retiring after 37 years in law enforcement! During his time with the Eastham Police Department Deputy Chief Roderick served as Patrolman, Court Prosecutor, Detective, Lieutenant, Acting Chief, and Deputy Chief. Please join them in wishing Deputy Chief Roderick a happy and relaxing retirement!

The retirement of Deputy Chief Roderick resulted in two new promotions at the Eastham Police Department. Detective Sergeant Adam Bohannon has been promoted to Deputy Chief and Officer Reid Booth has been promoted to Sergeant. Both Officers were sworn into their new positions today at a ceremony held at the Eastham Library.

Deputy Chief Bohannon started as a summer officer with the Eastham Police Department in 1996 and became a full time officer in 2001. He has served the department as Patrolman, Animal Control Officer, Detective, Court Prosecutor, Sergeant, and now Deputy Chief. Deputy Chief Bohannon has a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice and Masters Degree in Public Administration from Liberty University. He grew up in the town of Eastham and he still lives in Eastham today with his wife and two children. After being sworn in Deputy Chief Bohannon was pinned with his new badge by his wife Meredith.

Sergeant Booth transferred from the North Hampton Police Department to the Eastham Police Department in 2010. Sergeant Booth has served the department as Patrolman, Field Training Officer, Firearms instructor, SWAT team member, and now Sergeant. Sergeant Booth has a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice from Westfield State University and a Masters Degree in Public Administration from Anna Maria College.

He grew up in the town of Harwich and lives there today with his wife. After being sworn in, Sergeant Booth was pinned with his new badge by his wife Amanda.

While the department is sad to see Deputy Chief Roderick leave, we are excited about the bright future with these two new leaders. Please join us in congratulating Deputy Chief Bohannon and Sergeant Booth and wishing them luck in their new positions.
