Updated: Eastham Police investigating apparent hit & run crash vs pole that closed Route 6

EASTHAM – Eastham Police are looking for a vehicle that reportedly struck a utility pole and left the scene. The incident happened about 1:20 AM Thursday on State Highway (Route 6) by Hemenway Road. The pole was shattered and wires brought down forcing a closure of the highway overnight. The road has since reopened.

From Eastham Police: The vehicle involved in the motor vehicle crash last night fled the scene prior to the officers’ arrival. The crash occurred at 1:20 AM and resulted in power outages and extensive property damage to utility poles and street signs. We are seeking the public’s assistance in locating the involved vehicle. Evidence left at the scene suggests that the involved vehicle was a black 2016-2018 Chevy Silverado pickup. The vehicle should have front driver’s side damage.
