ORLEANS – At approximately 3:45 p.m., Orleans Fire-Rescue was dispatched to Nauset Auto Service & Sales at 6 Bakers Pond Road for a report of a possible structure fire. Upon arrival, crews found an active fire in a first-floor bathroom and affected a quick knock down of all visible fire. The Incident Commander called for a Working Fire assignment bringing apparatus and personnel from Brewster, Eastham and Harwich to the scene and for station coverage. Once it was determined that the fire had not extended into the second floor and attic space, crews began ventilation and overhaul and started releasing mutual aid fire companies. Traffic at the intersection of Bakers Pond Road and Route 6A was slowed for a time while apparatus was at the scene. There were no injuries reported of civilians or fire personnel. The fire is under investigation by the Orleans Fire-Rescue Dept. Timely reporting of the incident and an aggressive attack on the fire prevented what could have been a serious building fire.
