UPDATED: Eversrouce hopes to have all power restored by evening-as new storm moves in-new damage on Sandy Neck

CAPE COD – Eversource is hoping to have all power knocked out in the big storm restored by this evening. As of 8 AM less than 2,500 customers were still in the dark. Eastham, Orleans and Barnstable have the largest numbers but remaining all outages affect less than 500 customers. We’ll continue to monitor restoration efforts throughout the day and update here.

Meanwhile, another nor’easter will affect the region Wednesday into Thursday. The Cape is expecting mainly rain at this point but gusty winds could lead to some new power outages and minor coastal flooding is possible especially in areas left vulnerable from the previous storm.

12:00 p.m. update: 1,400 still without power but remember that’s down from 103,000 at the height of the storm.

5:00 p.m. update: A new photo from Barnstable Firefighters show the buoy from the target ship off Eastham washed up on Sandy Neck where at least one house  was heavily damaged from the nor’easter.

Power outages are down under 900.

11:00 p.m. update: 375 customers without power at this hour.
