Route 6 Exit 5 overpass dedicated to First Responders

WEST BARNSTABLE – First Responders from around Cape Cod gathered at the Route 149 roundabout in Marstons Mills on Tuesday to dedicate the First Responders Appreciation Overpass and dedicate the flagpole at the center of the traffic circle. Among those in attendance where members of the Yarmouth Police Department who recently lost one of their own, K9 Sgt. Sean Gannon, who was shot and killed in the line of duty in Marstons Mills last month.

Lt. Governor Karen Polito was among those on hand to speak to the importance of First Responders and the service they give to the community.

Lt. Colonel Christopher Mason from the Mass State Police was also in attendance and thanked his fellow First Responders and the public for their support. Members of the Cape Cod legislative delegation were on hand for the event that featured dozens of flags and bagpipes that played Amazing Grace.

A sign was also unveiled on the overpass spanning Route 6 at exit 5 commemorating First Responders.
