FALMOUTHFrom Falmouth Police: Tonight, at about 6:57 PM, we responded to the beach area near the intersection of Maravista Avenue and Menauhant Road. for a vehicle in the water. Responding officers found the car upright and just beyond the waterline. The 28-year-old female operator had already been helped out of the car by a witness to the crash. The operator, and sole occupant of the car, was transported to the Falmouth Hospital by Falmouth Fire-Rescue with injuries that were not life-threatening. The Falmouth Department of Public Works responded with a front end loader to assist the local tow company in pulling the vehicle out of the water and sand. The cause of the crash is under investigation but we know that the car was traveling southerly on Maravista Avenue at a high rate of speed. The vehicle did not stop for the stop sign, crossed over Menauhant Road, went into the sand and traveled about 50 yards before coming to rest in the water.
