Falmouth fire closes section of Thomas B. Landers Rd.

Falmouth firefighters were working a fire scene on Thomas B. Landers Road early Sunday morning. Falmouth Police said the road was closed between Geggatt Road and Blacksmith Shop Road and traffic was being diverted.

Falmouth Fire report that at approx 5:40 AM Sunday morning, they were dispatched to a residence at 269 Thomas B. Landers Road for a shed fire. Upon arrival, the Shift Commander found a 15X20 utility building fully involved in fire, with extension to a nearby Chevy Silverado pickup truck which was also fully involved, and fire impinging on a nearby occupied dwelling. A box was struck, bringing additional manpower. Shortly after arrival of the additional companies, the gasoline tank on the truck failed, and an exposed natural gas line also became involved in fire. Despite operating with extremely limited manpower, crews were able to deploy 3 attack lines prevent major damage to the occupied exposure. The fire was knocked down in about 45 minutes. There were no injuries. Mashpee and Bourne firefighters covered the Falmouth stations during the fire.
