FALMOUTH – Falmouth Marine and Environmental Services Deputy Director Chuck Martinsen, Massachusetts Environmental Police Lt Mathew Bass and Massachusetts Environmental Police Officer Paul Whiting, acting on a tip, conducted a join investigation in the vicinity of Goodwill Park in Falmouth Massachusetts. During the investigation, officers collected evidence of an individual regularly baiting a razor blade with peanut butter in an attempt to attract wildlife with the park. While conducting surveillance, M Brian McGrath was seen baiting and then watching trees as unsuspecting animals were lured into the bait covered razor. Officers were able to capture evidence of squirrels in contact with a razor while feeding. Upon observing numerous young children in the vicinity of the razors, officers removed the blade. A search of the park has not turned up any more baiting stations.
M Brian McGrath, 43 Happy Hollow Rd, East Falmouth MA was jointly arrested on August 31, 2019 by Falmouth MES and Massachusetts Environmental Police and booked at the Massachusetts State Police Barracks in Bourne MA. McGrath is being charged with the following criminal violations:
1. Animal Cruelty
2. Reckless Behavior Creating a Risk of Serious Bodily Injury
3. Injuries To Trees
