Updated: Falmouth Police arrest suspect in Walmart theft; second suspect surrenders

FALMOUTH – Falmouth Police have arrested and charged  one of two suspects involved in a theft of a purse containing several hundred dollars in cash and gift cards from an elderly woman’s shopping cart in Walmart last month.

Following an investigation, police have arrested John F. Hayes, 31, of Sandwich, charging him with larceny over $250 from a 60 years or older/disabled person, accessory before the fact, and accessory after the fact.

The second suspect, Danielle Rae Romaneski turned herself in at the Falmouth District Court and was due to be arraigned Wednesday. She was wanted for larceny over $250 from a 60 years or older/Disabled Person.

Officers responded to Walmart on November 27 for a theft of a purse from an elderly female. During the investigation they obtained security camera footage of a female with a male companion stealing a purse from the cart of an elderly shopper.

The police then posted the video on Facebook and within days identified the female and male suspected of the theft.
